10 years with Momchil – the backend juggler from Bulgaria

19. maj 2026

In 2025 Momchil celebrated his 10-year anniversary with us. That is very much an occasion worth marking – and one that invites reflection on the recipe for a working relationship that lasts.

Momchil is originally from Bulgaria, where he also lives today. He came to Denmark to study software development at Erhvervsakademi Aarhus, graduating in 2016. During his studies he started as an intern at Yulsn (then Juhlsen) and was later taken on permanently.

In 2025 he bought a flat in his home town of Pleven, and that is where he works remotely from day to day. There is admittedly a certain physical distance between Pleven and the Yulsn office in Tranbjerg, Aarhus, but fortunately Momchil is only a Teams call away.

The man with a lot going on at once

If there is one person at Yulsn who often has the most tasks – and the most frequently changing tasks – on their desk at once, it is Momchil. Every time a project manager pushes in a new task that has to be prioritised above the last one, he tunes in to the new one.

Working that way without losing the thread takes perspective and professional weight. And it takes someone who is both focused and conscientious, while still daring to question things. Both describe Momchil.

The internship task became a foundation

Right back at the start of his internship, Momchil was given the task of building an event management system for one of our customers, Holm & Halby, a supplier of laboratory equipment who run seminars for various specialists. A core function of the solution was that registered attendees received a reminder about an upcoming seminar where they could at the same time pass their place on if they turned out not to be able to come.

That move alone raised attendance at the seminars from around 50% to 92%. A noticeable difference.

We have since built further on that system and developed similar solutions for several customers.

Generally, when we talk to interested companies today, they almost always ask for an example of a comparable solution from a similar company or industry. And here it is often a Momchil solution that serves as the reference point for what we can deliver.

In that way we keep feeling the value, because it started as a properly worked piece of craft.

Loyalty in balance

We have learned that it can be a task in itself for the project managers running the work Momchil is on to remind him: "Do remember to take some time off”. And ”Yes, of course you can take a holiday".

Open Teams and it is not unusual to see that Momchil was last working at an inhuman hour – and the time difference between Denmark and Bulgaria is by no means the whole explanation.

That says a lot about Momchil's work ethic. But it also says something about a responsibility that sits with the rest of us. When a colleague delivers so willingly and persistently, and has done so for ten years, it is tempting to simply let him. But although that is a strength for the team in the short term, the long-term relationship requires us to pull in the other direction.

Because loyalty goes both ways. There has to be balance.

”I must have tried every escape game in Aarhus”

Even though Momchil sits in Bulgaria day to day, he is part of the team like everyone else. We notice that especially when we meet on team days, at summer parties and Christmas lunches – the occasions that bring us together and remind us that the heart of working together is more than tasks and solutions.

We know Momchil as a warm, humorous and interested colleague, and we enjoy his company when he is with us in Denmark. He will not say no to a good beer and a game of pool, but escape games? He reckons he has seen enough of those by now: ”I must have tried every escape game in Aarhus, in my time at Yulsn. I say we try something else the next time”.

Even the most adaptable colleague has limits 😄

Next time we might challenge him to a round of beer pong, some mini golf or perhaps footgolf instead. Juggling, at least, we know he can do.

Thank you for the first 10 years

Over more than ten years Momchil has delivered backend solutions in every imaginable form, adapted countless times, and shown what it means to take responsibility – including when the pace is high and the plan changes mid-task. We appreciate that every day. We do our utmost to create the balanced conditions that give him the appetite and the energy to drive the work.

Thank you for the first 10 years, Momchil. We are looking forward to the next.

Curious about Yulsn?

We build solutions you can rely on – and that takes people who take responsibility and insist on quality, including when the pace picks up. That is the approach our customers meet, and the one new partnerships begin with.
